Re-Entry Project

Persons returning to community from prison and jail encounter many barriers to re-entering their lives.  One of the main barriers is housing.  Having a record can prevent these individuals from gaining access to housing, causing them to be unable to move on with their lives.  The Housing Unit works to educate decision-makers about options to reduce barriers, especially for non-violent convictions, and to educate others about the civil collateral consequences of a guilty plea in an eviction case.  The Housing Unit works to help ensure that once an individual has served his or her sentence, that the conviction does not continue to inappropriately interfere with their ability to live their lives.
