VLP Programs and Opportunities

Brief Advice & Referral Programs

Brief Advice & Referral Clinics will be monthly first-come, first-served clinics at neighborhood community centers.  Clients will have an opportunity to discuss civil legal programs with volunteer attorneys and receive general advice, information or referrals.  For 2005 the Brief Advice & Referral Clinics will take place the last Saturday of each month at St. Martin de Porres Family Center.

Client Representation Programs

  • Law Firm Clinics will be held the last Wednesday evening of each month at the Legal Aid offices.  They will be staffed by members of law firms, government agencies, solo practitioners and Legal Aid attorneys.

  • Attorney Client Match is a continuation and expansion of the existing attorney-client match programs.  VLP staff directly matches an individual pro bono client with a volunteer attorney.

Special Focus Programs

  • By Issue Area – such as landlord tenant or power of attorney clinic.

  • By Client Group – such as clinics at senior centers for those that have difficulty getting to a clinic or clinics for particular ethnic communities.

  • Community Legal Education – including seminars and presentations to community members.
