How We Are Funded

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland provides only free legal services to eligible clients and, consequently, does not accept fees from any client. To provide free services, we receive funding from:

-          The Legal Services Corporation, a private non-profit corporation established by Congress in 1974 to oversee the provision of civil, legal assistance to low income individuals.  LSC depends on Congressional appropriations.

-          The Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, administrator of distributions from the state-wide legal aid fund.

-          United Way Organizations in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lorain Counties

-          Area Agencies on Aging

-          Collaborations with partner non-profit organizations

-          Government grants and contacts

-          Individual donors

-          Foundations

-          Law firms and other businesses
