Community Initiatives

Since 1905, Legal Aid collaborates with the community to solve problems.

Legal Aid engages the community to understand and resolve the problems low income residents of northeast Ohio confront.  Staff and volunteers meet people in schools, hospitals, social service organizations and their neighborhoods.  We work on issues unique to specific populations.  Through ongoing presence and participation in a variety of community settings, we earn trust, build relationships, and collaborate on advocacy to address issues of poverty and racial equity.

See the topics below for more information and resources about Legal Aid’s Community Engagement initiatives, as well as civil rights and discrimination, specific populations, and the legal system.
